Several scholars from the University of Macau (UM) recently published a book on China-US relations between 1849 and 1869, which can serve as a valuable reference book for the studies of the history of Macao and China-US relations. The book is the result of a four-year project on historical documents issued by the US consulate general in Macao between 1849 and 1869. It contains information about many important historical events of the US that took place in Macao during the second half of the 19th century. The book was co-edited by Hao Yufan, dean of UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences; Lin Guangzhi, academic manager of UM’s Centre for Macau Studies; and post-doctoral researcher Ye Nong.
