Three PhD candidates, namely Li Qing, Zeng Jinlian, and Yan Xuelian, from the University of Macau (UM) Department of History, recently received the First, Second, and Third Prize Paper Award at a symposium on the South China Sea and the history of Sino-foreign relations for postgraduates from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Their papers and presentations were highly praised by other participants in the symposium.

This year, the conference accepted 45 papers by PhD students from 24 universities, including Taiwan University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, and Nankai University.

The event was organised by the Academic degrees Committee of Guangdong, and hosted by Jinan University. The winning papers were supervised by Department of History professor Tang Kaijian.
