The University of Macau (UM) recently held an orientation activity for the incoming postgraduate students for the 2016/2017 academic year. In his speech, UM Rector Wei Zhao expressed hope that the students will actively engage in academic and research activities and will stay humble in the pursuit of breakthroughs, adding that it is important for them to understand the ‘3C’s’: Communication, Commitment, and Compromise. Graduate School Dean John Mo told the students about the university’s latest developments. The event attracted nearly 600 new master’s students and PhD students from various countries and regions. The new cohort of postgraduate students come from the United States, France, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Malaysia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
