Symposium on WTO Law and Policy

 

The Faculty of Law, University of Macau is organizing a “Symposium on WTO Law and Policy” on 17 June 2005. The 'WTO Symposium’ will take review of the contemporary developments in WTO law and policy and their implications for Macau and Greater China.

The WTO Symposium, commemorating a decade of existence of WTO, is expected to create a platform for interdisciplinary exchange involving international participants in order to increase the visibility of Macau and its role in regional and international trade and investment.

The Symposium will be attended by a diverse group of government officials from 27 different countries and territories in Asia-pacific region, who are partaking in the Regional Trade Policy Training Program (RTPC) organized by the WTO in Hong Kong, with the assistance of Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong. The speakers of the Symposium include those from the academia and relevant government departments and institutions in Macau.

In the afternoon, on the day of Symposium, a visit is proposed to the Macau Forum for Co-operation of China and Portuguese Speaking Countries. This visit is intended to foster greater understanding of the role of Macau in promoting international co-operation with China, particularly in the field of trade and investment.

The WTO Symposium will be held on 17 June 2005 at the Senate Room (T303), University of Macau, between 10 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
