UM’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

 

To celebrate the 25th anniversary with the theme of “Flying Higher on Silvery Wings”, the University of Macau (UM) will hold a series of celebration activities on 20 October, including the Celebration Ceremony of the 25th Anniversary of University of Macau, Dedication and Naming Ceremony of Choi Kai Yau Building and the Gala Dinner. Guests from Macao and around the world will come together to celebrate UM’s birthday.

Celebration Ceremony of the 25th Anniversary of University of Macau will be held at the UM Cultural Center at 10am on the 20 October. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Dr Chui Sai On will attend the ceremony. Other distinguished guests to be attend the ceremony are rectors and vice rectors from 48 universities in 14 different countries and regions, including the representative from Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, President of International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), President of Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), President of “Conselho de Reitores das Universidades Portuguesas” (CRUP).

Dedication and Naming Ceremony of Choi Kai Yau Building will be held at 11am. A UM academic building will be named as “Choi Kai Yau Building”and the naming has commended the contribution to Education of Mr. Choi Kai Yau and his son, Dr. Choi Koon Shum. Generous denotation to UM’s sustainable development from Choi’s family is a great present for UM’s 25th birthday.

Gala Dinner will take place in the Convention & Exhibition Centre of the Macao Fisherman’s Wharf at 7:30pm. Choirs from the Angeles University Foundation and UM will give musical performance during the Banquet. Under such wonderful melody, rectors from worldwide famous universities, guests, alumni and teaching staff will have a joyful night to toast each other and celebrate the UM 25th anniversary.

Further, there will be a campus concert held at 7pm on 21 October in the UM Cultural Center, Choirs from the Angeles University Foundation and UM were invited to give wonderful performance again with Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra, to present classic songs to celebrate UM 25th birthday.
