Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, José Cesário, yesterday (20 May) awarded medal of merits to five Portuguese people living in Macao, in recognition of their contributions to Macao. One of the recipients is associate professor Cândida Pires from the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Law. Prof Pires has been teaching at UM for 27 years, training legal professionals for the local community. She has also been involved in the publication of several law books and academic journals in Macao. The presentation ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong.
