This year marks the 130th anniversary of the successful arrival of the Empress of China, the first American ship to sail in China’s waters, as well as the 170th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Wangxia between China and the United States. The University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Social Sciences and Centre for Macau Studies today (3 December) held an international symposium on Macao-US relations from a global perspective.
