Following the inauguration of the new campus, the University of Macau (UM) on 5 November and 6 November held International Advisory Committee meetings. Committee members attended meetings with UM’s top management and faculty deans to discuss strategies for the university’s future development.

The nine committee members who attended the meetings included Prof. Peter A. Freeman, founding dean and professor emeritus of the Georgia Institute of Technology and assistant director of the United States National Science Foundation; Prof. William H. Mobley, president emeritus of the Texas A&M University; Prof. Chia-Wei Woo, president emeritus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Prof. Ruth Emilie Scott Hayhoe, president emerita of the Hong Kong Institute of Education; Prof. David Chung-Laung Liu, former president of Tsing Hua University, Taiwan; Prof. Manuel Carlos Lopes Porto, former dean of the School of Law at the University of Coimbra, Portugal; Prof. Wang Zhenmin, dean of the School of Law at Tsinghua University, Beijing; and Mr. Albert Ip Yuk Keung, Council member of Lingnan University in Hong Kong and independent non-executive director of several listed companies in Hong Kong.

During the meetings, UM Rector Wei Zhao updated the committee members on the latest developments of the university and shared the strategies for teaching, faculty development, research, and administration. Committee members visited the various faculties, met with faculty deans, and discussed strategies for the future development of the faculties.
