Lei Ka-Meng, a PhD student of the University of Macau (UM), received the Best Paper Award at the Fifth Asia Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (ASQED 2013), for his paper titled “A 2.93μW 8-Bit Capacitance-to-RF Converter for Movable Laboratory Mice Blood Pressure Monitoring.”

Organised by the International Society for Quality Electronic Design and sponsored and managed by SHRDC, ASQED 2013 aims to bridge the gap among Electronic/Semiconductor ecosystem members providing electronic design tools and processes, integrated circuit (IC) technologies, processes and manufacturing, to achieve design quality. The conference pursues excellence and follows high standards in the selection process, with an acceptance rate of less than 50 per cent. It emphasises innovations and the latest developments in IC and system design, sensors, MEMS & NEMS, semiconductor technology and manufacturing, IC packaging and PCB technology, tests, as well as bio- and nano- electronics.

The highlight of this year’s symposium is a healthy progress in terms of diversity of the topics, as reflected in the programme as well as the keynotes and tutorials.

The two-day symposium consisted of three parallel tracks, featuring more than 60 technical presentations, several keynote speeches, tutorials and other informal meetings. Conference proceedings will be published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and posted in the digital library.
