UM was the overall first runner-up at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cantonese Debate Contest

The University of Macau’s (UM) Cantonese Debating Team emerged as the overall first runner-up at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cantonese Debate Contest, which was organised by the Y. Elites Association Limited. In addition to the title of “overall first runner-up”, team member Lou Chi Weng also received the Best Debater Award twice, at the preliminary and at the semi-final. Eight strong teams from Guangdong, Macao and Hong Kong participated in the contest. They are from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Jinan University, the South China Agricultural University, UM, and Macau University of Science and Technology.
