UM students hope to aid in ending AIDS discrimination

Plato once said, “Ignorance is the root of all evil.” To paraphrase Plato’s words, the lack of understanding is perhaps largely responsible for the widespread discrimination against AIDS patient. A group of students from the University of Macau’s (UM) Department of Sociology initiated an AIDS education campaign in the form of a slogan and logo design contest in hopes of gradually eliminating discrimination against AIDS patients by helping the public to know more about the disease. The contest is now open for application. All local secondary school students and university students are welcome to participate. Those who are interested should email their name, sex, the first four digits of their ID card number, school and contact information to AIDS.PROJ.MO@gmail.com by 3 March 2013.
