The University of Macau’s (UM) Honours College (HC) recently organised a team building camp for the Class of 2015 at the Macau Tower. The theme of the camp was Leadership Enhancement Adventure (LEAD), and the purpose was to enhance students’ esprit de corps and to strengthen their mutual understanding.

The camp, aimed at providing students with challenging leadership experiences, is a component of the honours course – Development of Leadership Skills. Through a series of team building activities and challenges, the camp enables the participants to build up confidence and develop the ability to overcome difficulties by encouraging one other.

Under the instructions of the course instructor Dr Udani, students walked blindfolded around the main outer rim of the tower at a height of 233 metres. Five students even overcame their fears to try the bungy jump and sky jump. Towards the end of the camp, Dr Udani assigned two tasks to the students –the first is to create a Leadership Enhancement Advancement Project and the second is to design a poster. He said he hopes students can obtain a higher level of leadership skills by the end of the semester, which can help them better prepare for their overseas studies early next year.
