The 30th Lecture of UM Distinguished Lecture Series: "The Core of Education: Excellence with Soul" concluded successfully on 16 January 2013. The keynote speaker of the lecture, Dr. Philemon Choi Yuen-wan, Honorary General Secretary of Breakthrough in Hong Kong, discussed how to cultivate young talents with education.

The lecture was received with a full house of audience at the Ho Yin Convention Centre.,With years of experiences in social work for the youth in mainland China, Hong Kong and the U.S., Dr. Choi has developed a deep compassion for young people, and is dedicated in providing guidance to the youth in leading a healthy, positive and fulfilling life.

What kind of university life should young people live in one of their best phrases in life? To this question, Dr. Choi said, “Respect the wisdom and knowledge in books, meanwhile go out experience and learn different things in different way – that’s how individual learns, shapes his or her visions and matures.”

Dr. Choi hoped to see the burning desire in every young person’s eye and heart in leading a fulfilling life. Being responsible, daring to follow one’s dream and daring to explore are the qualities that he hoped young people today can embrace. Young people today are faced with many opportunities and challenges. Dr. Choi encouraged students to be open to the possibilities that their university life have to offer, from which they can learn how to make choices and it will help them to make decisions on the path they want to take.
