On 7-9 May 2012, Prof. Maggie Fu, Associate Dean of the Graduate School led a UM delegation of twelve members to Chengdu. The objectives of the trip were to establish close relationship with the universities in Chengdu and promote our postgraduate programmes, in particular, our early and general admissions for the academic year 2013/2014. The members of the delegation included, Prof. Lewis Tam (FBA), Prof. Wei Bing (FED), Prof. Wang Jian Wei (FSH), Prof. Yao Jing Ming (FSH), Prof. Wu En Hua (FST), Prof. Wang Yi Tao (ICMS), Prof. Li Peng (ICMS), Ms. Carol Wong (RTO), Mr. Samson Cheong (RTO), Ms. Lily Wu (PhD Student representative) and 2 colleagues from the Graduate School.

During the trip, we mainly visited the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (電子科技大學), Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (西南財經大學), Sichuan Normal University (四川師範大學) and Sichuan University (四川大學). At each university, we were very warmly welcomed by their leaders, colleagues, and students. We had detailed discussions about our university, our postgraduate programmes as well as the potential cooperation opportunities. In addition, we organized a briefing session to address questions raised by those students who were interested in studying at the University of Macau. The whole trip went very smoothly and successfully. It has significantly enhanced the image of UM’s postgraduate education in that area.
