The original name of the hospital was Hui-Ai Hospital, which was changed to “Guangzhou Psychiatric Hospital” in 1973.

Guangzhou Psychiatric Hospital has about 1,100 staff members 1,920 beds on-site, and more than 300,000 patients visit outpatient centers annually. It is one of the largest psychiatric hospitals in China. Prof. D’Amato presented on how to use neuropsychological techniques with in-patients. He also presented a case during Grand Rounds, and helped develop a neuropsychological treatment plan, together with his doctoral student Ms. Wang, for a current patient.

The visit signals the beginning of academic and research exchanges between Guangzhou Psychiatric Hospital and UM. Both sides look forward to more such exchanges in the future.
