UM students win 2 first prizes at the 12th Challenge Cup

     UM students win numerous prizes

           at the 12th Challenge Cup  

The 12th Challenge Cup, also known as the “Olympics in Science” for university students in China, was held from 15 October to 20 October 2011, at the Dalian University of Technology. It is a bi-annual national inter-university competition on extracurricular academic and technological projects. It is co-organized by the China Communist Youth League Central Committee, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the China Association for Science and Technology, the All-China Students Federation, and the government of Liaoning province.

1,115 projects received award at the competition, among which fifty-four from eleven higher education institutions in Hong Kong and Macao, including the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, made it to the final round. The University of Macau (UM) ranked No. 2 in this group, next only to the Chinese University of Hong Kong). UM students won six prizes, including two first prizes received by FST and ICMS respectively, one second prize and three third prizes.
