UM holds seminar on Parallel Cultures and Transcultural Process: Harbour Cities/Intercultural Cities

The Portuguese Department of the University of Macau (UM) is going to hold a seminar on ‘Parallel Cultures and Transcultural Process: Harbour Cities/Intercultural Cities’ on 22 March, at 9:30 a.m., at the STDM Auditorium of the University Library.

The main purpose of this seminar is to identify and discuss some of the interpretations of this area of study including the transdisciplinary reconstitution of the memory of the peoples in whose space the Portuguese have circulated.

The seminar is based on the intercultural relations and it aims at a reflection on the epistemology of new cultural models and at observing different expressions as processes of building identities. For this purpose the geo-historical contexts of such cities should be analyzed and Macao is a paradigmatic case. The final target is the comparative analysis of those regions and/or cities and also the various European Colonization Histories.

The seminar will be conducted in both Portuguese and English. All are welcome.
