University heads gather at UM to share experience in higher education | ||||

On 28 July 2010, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Chairman of the China Democratic League Mr. Jiang Shusheng as well as heads of tertiary institutions from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan (the four regions) visited the University of Macau (UM), one of the hosts for this socializing activity for university heads from the four regions, which has been held for the sixth time. UM Rector Wei Zhao warmly received the guests. Participants exchanged ideas on the future development of higher education in the four regions. Guests that visited UM included Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Chairman of the China Democratic League Mr. Jiang Shusheng, President of Peking University Prof. Zhou Qifeng, President of Nanjing University Prof. Chen Jun, President of Zhejiang University Prof. Yang Wei, President of Fudan University Prof. Yang Yuliang, Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of Hong Kong Prof. Lap-Chee Tsui, President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Prof. Tony F Chan, President of National Taiwan University Prof. Lee Si Chen, President of Tunghai University Prof. Haydn H.D. Chen, President of Feng Chia University Prof. Pao-Long Chang, President of Yuan Ze University Prof. Perng Tsong Pyng, President of National Tsing Hua University Prof. Lih J. Chen, President of National Central University Prof. Wei-Ling Chiang, President of National Chengchi University Prof. Se Hwa Wu, and Rector of Macau University of Science and Technology Prof. Xu Ao Ao.
Rector Wei Zhao shared UM’s experience in reforming university management and operation in recent years. He said that this activity brought together university heads from the four regions and provided an opportunity for participants to visit famous tourist attractions, receive a taste of the unique cultural vibes of Hong Kong and Macao, and, more importantly, share experience and deepen friendships amid a light-hearted and pleasurable atmosphere. 29/07/2010 | ||||
